    It's not officially the offseason until athletes start getting arrested every few days. And, wouldn't you know it, the "days without an arrest" ticker was right at three. According to the Stanford Daily, and citing the Stanford University Department of Public Safety (SUDPS), Cardinal linebacker Shayne Skov was jailed and booked for driving under the influence early in the morning on Sunday, Jan. 29.   2. CFT: Emmert supports 4-year scholarships

    NCAA president Mark Emmert knows where he stands on two important - and polarizing - pieces of legislation. Now, he's reached out to school presidents to make sure they share the same enthusiasm. Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports reports, through a document obtained by CBS, that Emmert has asked Division 1 school presidents to defeat a possible override against NCAA legislation that allows schools to give out four-year scholarships for athletes. Some programs from around college football have already begun signing players to four-year scholarships.     What that look will be remains to be seen, although it will very likely involve what would technically be called a "plus-one" format, but in reality is merely a four-team playoff. If one of the power conferences gets its way, any playoff system will have a very local flavor to it.     Citing a source familiar with the situation, the San Jose Mercury News reported over the weekend that the Oakland Raiders are interested in Cardinal co-defensive coordinator Jason Tarver. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on the interest as well. Tarver has been at Stanford for just one season.     The new Southern Miss head coach confirmed Saturday that running back Jamal Woodyard will likely miss the 2012 season due to injury, with Johnson labeling him as "very doubtful" for the upcoming year. Woodyard injured his knee in the Golden Eagles' Hawaii Bowl win over Nevada in December.
