Cal football: Quotes from Tedford's signing day press conference ...
College sports &bull Feb 19, 2010Im really excited. Every year you go in thinking its a great class. I would have to tell you, though, this class to me is one that from top to bottom is as solid as any class weve ever had here. There was a lot of focus put on the linebacking corps and the wide receivers, and that was part of it. But I really feel like theyre great kids. They have a lot potential, a lot of them, to contribute right away to the program. Our coaches worked very, very hard, and I want to give our coaches a… Full Story »

Bob Gregory leaving
Excuse Me for My Voice &bull Feb 18, 2010Bob Gregory will depart Cal to join the Boise State coaching staff as a defensive assistant, head coach Jeff Tedford announced Wednesday. Gregory spent eight seasons as Cals defensive coordinator and was one of the original hires made by Tedford upon his arrival at Cal in 2002. Pretty surprising news for a few reasons. For one, Gregory is taking a serious demotion, from DC at a BCS school to a position coach (word is hes going to be the linebacker coach) at a WAC/non-BCS school (admittedly BSU is a special non-BCS school, but still). Secondly, the timing is somewhat odd,… Full Story »

He has young kids. I think he wants to spend more time with his kids and take a step back from coordinating. He's been at Bosie before and likes the quality of life there.
