Five Questions Facing the Oklahoma Sooners In Spring Practice
Oklahoma Sooners Football on Bleacher Report &bull Mar 10, 2010
The Oklahoma Sooners started spring practice on Monday, hoping to put images of a very disappointing 2009 season behind them. In 2009, the Sooners were riddled with injuries and inconsistency and struggled to an 8-5 record. Oklahoma showed signs of improvement down the stretch, shutting out arch-rival Oklahoma State and defeating Stanford in the Sun Bowl. 2010 looks to be a year of improvement for the Sooners with several key starters returning in quarterback Landry Jones, DeMarco Murray, Ryan Broyles, Jeremy Beal, and Travis Lewis. The Sooners also bring in an excellent recruiting class that was ranked as high as… Full Story »

Spread and Pass, Brian Kelly's (Somewhat) New Irish Offense
Notre Dame Football News on Bleacher Report &bull Mar 10, 2010
As such, he favors the pass over the run, operates heavily from the shotgun, and employs an up-tempo pace. Some question the lack of a consistent, power running element while others worry about ball control. There are also concerns about the how a spread passing scheme will fare against good defensive competition and Kelly's ability to fill the roster with elite talent at the skill positions. Former head coach Charlie Weis' recruiting record should be enough evidence to negate the last of these concerns, but the others may be valid. There are certainly negatives that come with Kelly's offense, but… Full Story »

Spread and Pass
Blue and Gold &bull Mar 10, 2010While the defense may be a bigger problem, one of the primary concerns for many Irish fans is the spread passing offense of new head coach Brian Kelly. Kelly makes no secret of his offensive goal, he wants to be aggressive and vertical, scoring on every possession. As such, he favors the pass over the run, operates heavily from the shotgun, and employs an up-tempo pace. Some question the lack of a consistent, power running element while others worry about ball control. There are also concerns about the how a spread passing scheme will fare against good defensive competition and… Full Story »

Draft Dish: McCoy, Suh among players ready for pro-day workouts
College Football on Sporting News &bull Mar 8, 2010
Although the NFL Scouting Combine has come and gone, the scouting process is far from over. Even if a player had a great Combine workout and chooses not to participate in all tests in his on-campus workout, his performance in drills with NFL position coaches is as important as what he did in Indianapolis. However, it is important to remember the pro-day workout and a player's Combine performance is only a small part of a player evaluation. NFL teams that rely most heavily on game film are the teams that consistently draft well. Can Gerald McCoy… Full Story »
