College Football on NBC &bull Yesterday

Last year's Green Bay-Pittsburgh Super Bowl contained a couple of mini-surprises as it pertained to college football, with the MAC tied for third among all conferences with 13 former players littering the two squads' game-day rosters and Central Michigan tying for the top spot among individual schools with four ex-players in the championship game. This year is no different when it comes to surprising roster tidbits. 4. The Jumbo Package

    Roll Bama Roll &bull Feb 2, 2012

No worries. In come the reinforcements. While lofty recruiting rankings don't guarantee future success, they're a pretty good indicator when it comes to Saban's teams. All four aforementioned Alabama players were four- or five-star prospects in Saban's top-rated 2008 and '09 classes. Detractors can't even break out the oversigning complaint this year because new SEC rules reigned in Saban. "Alabama has become the gold standard in terms of dream schools for kids," said Rivals.com National Analyst Mike Farrell. "It used to be Florida, or USC before that. But when we ask [class of] 2013 kids what's your dream offer, the… Full Story »

  9. CFT: QB Miles waffling on Washington? USC now in mix

  10. CFT: DE Fowler flips from FSU to Florida

College Football on NBC &bull Feb 1, 2012

Proving once again that a verbal commitment made a dozen or more months before signing day is non-binding and means next to nothing, long-time Florida State commit Dante Fowler Jr. became the first National Signing Day five-star flip when he signed a Letter of Intent with in-state rival Florida. The defensive end - UF will list him as an outside linebacker - had given a verbal to the Seminoles back in Dec. of 2010, but has been a shaky commit ever since, saying as late as four days ago that "I don't know where I'm going." Now he does know… Full Story »

Wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson confirmed to ESPN.com Wednesday morning that he will be signing his Letter of Intent with the Vols Wednesday. Three other SEC schools - Georgia, LSU and Ole Miss - made up the Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College product's final four. Persistence on the part of the Vols, it appears, played a significant role in Patterson's decision. The first phone call came from Tennessee last year on signing day," Patterson said. With some other teams, I would talk to the coaches once a week or something like that. Tennessee was different. They would call me almost every day,… Full Story »
